Located on Sunset Boulevard, right on the pulse of the Sunset Strip, the Mondrian hotel is within walking distance of popular comedy clubs (The Comedy Store is across the street) and several live music venues like the legendary Whiskey a Go-Go and the notorious Viper Room. Just a few blocks away on Santa Monica Boulevard, are a great selection of fun bars, dance clubs and lots of shopping.
The hotel also offers Lincoln Continental and Navigator house cars on a first-come-first-served basis to hotel guests and provide a complimentary drop off within a 2-3 mile radius during specified hours, if you’re not in the mood to walk too much.
When entering this chic boutique hotel lobby, it was like walking into a modern trendy art gallery. The clean bamboo floors are accented with a mixture of modern furniture and colorful artsy installations. The lobby bar, which serves a full espresso, tea and a cafe menu, was our first stop on the way out each morning for our coffee.
The newly renovated Mondrian offers 236 spacious rooms from standard room up to a penthouse suite. Each room has floor-to-ceiling windows with beautiful views of downtown Los Angeles and the Valley, custom-designed furniture with a pop of color and nice sustainable bamboo floors. Signature elements in each room were created by design visionary Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz. And I loved the practical location of the outlet and USB station built into the side of the bedside table, something we’re seeing more these days.
The pool deck is surrounded by the greenery and flowers of ivy growing up the walls, and parts of the deck are shaded by natural trees, providing a nice natural feel in the midst of the city. The windows offer a spectacular view and create a more open feeling to the area. The Skybar is an elevated covered patio bar overlooking the pool, and in the evening it transforms the pool deck into a lounge vibe with window seating, daybed’s around the pool, and great tunes from the DJ.
Although there are many great restaurants nearby, the hotel restaurant, Ivory on Sunset, is a great place for breakfast lunch, or dinner. The stylish atmosphere is comfortable and the patio seating has an amazing view. A little secret, the 24-hour room service has the same delicious items from the restaurant on its menu! I highly recommend the artichoke dip and organic chicken.
The Mondrian is always offering perks and special programs, like the Ultimate Shopping Experience, so check out what they have to offer when booking your trip, and get in on all they have to offer.
